Soil, Root Systems & Plant Care

Separate soil, root-zone and above-ground issues before considering a crop-care approach.

Read the Guide
01

Start with the Whole System

Symptoms on leaves, stems or fruit can relate to several parts of the system. Review soil condition, moisture, drainage, roots and recent management together before selecting a product.

  • Is the symptom isolated or distributed across the area?
  • Is the soil dry, waterlogged, compacted or poorly drained?
  • Did the issue begin after a change in nutrition, irrigation or management?
02

Information to Prepare

Basic field information helps separate possible issues instead of selecting a product from visible symptoms alone.

  • Crop type, age and growth stage
  • Soil, irrigation and recent weather conditions
  • Photos of both normal and affected plants
  • Inputs and management practices used recently
03

Match the Approach to the System

For soil biology, organic matter or root-zone conditions, begin with a soil-system approach. For root-zone or foliar crop care, consider the product form and application method that match the objective.

  • Do not use a product name as a substitute for diagnosis
  • Review the rate, method and limitations in the product information
  • Observe field response and adjust the approach when necessary
04

Evaluate Systematically

Define an observation area, compare before and after, and record application date, weather, irrigation and other management factors. When uncertain, share actual field information with J.KAY for guidance.
